Selena Gomez
Stefano Gabbana caused a spark of fury online as he called Selena Gomez 'ugly' in an Instagram post. Selena Gomez is the most followed person on this platform.
The Dolce & Gabbana frontman made the offending remark in Italian in relation to a polyptych of photos of the singer on the red carpet uploaded by celebrity fashion trends blog, The Catwalk Italia.
The original caption prompted fans to choose their favourite look, however, writing in Italian, Gabbana responded by commenting: “Γ¨ proprio brutta!!!”, which translates to: “she’s really ugly”.

The Italian designer also responded to another user’s comment on the post that Gomez “looks like a Pomeranian dog” by writing: “hahahahahaha is true hahahaha”
Gabbana’s comments have prompted a slew of outraged responses from the singer’s loyal fanbase, with many users labelling his behaviour as “disrespectful” and “disgusting” and describing the incident as online bullying.

13 Reasons Why star Tommy Dorfman weighed in on the debate by responding to Gabbana’s comment, writing: “you’re tired and over. Your homophobic, misogynistic, body-shaming existence will not thrive in 2018. It is no longer tolerable or chic. Please take many seats."

Fellow singer Julia Michaels also wrote a supportive message to Gomez on Twitter, presumably posted in light of the comments, saying: “@selenagomez just here to tell you that you are one of the most beautiful women I know, inside and out. I love you always.”

Also, the fashion designer commented on a series of images uploaded by The Catwalk Italia of Kate Moss wearing a thigh-skimming playsuit by simply writing: “No”.
Instagram users were quick to jump to the supermodel’s defence, describing the outfit as “beautiful” and “very feminine”.
The dig at Moss came first. @TheCatWalkItalia, an Instagram account with more 1.4 million followers that specialises in posting photos of celebrities and asking its followers, basically, "πŸ‘πŸΌorπŸ‘ŽπŸΌ?," posted two photos of Moss in a Saint Laurent black dress (a style moment that Vogue recently declared "proves why 40 is the new 20"). Gabbana simply replied, "no," a short missive that caused quakes in the fashion community. Moss has basically been fashion's reigning prom queen for decades, and she rarely if ever receives criticism from within the industry.
It appears the relationship between Moss and Dolce & Gabbana is not quite as strong. She appeared in a campaign for D&G back in the early days of her career and walked a few runways for the brand, but she doesn't seem to have the same tight-knit bond with the brand or its designers as she does with so many others in fashion. Gabbana himself was snapped back in 2009 wearing a T-shirt with a nude image of Moss printed on it, but it appears his admiration has waned.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga took to the Super Bowl stage in three custom looks created by fellow Italian house Versace: The first was a sparkling Atelier Versace bodysuit with shoulder pads that channeled David Bowie. The second added a spiked golden jacket atop her initial ensemble. And the third and final look—a structured crop top, modled to look like football pads, and Swarovski-crystal encrusted boy shorts—was met with the most controversial reactions, including from Stefano Gabbana, co-founder of Dolce & Gabbana. After initially criticising her exposed stomach, Gabbana took to Instagram to apologise to Lady Gaga. Posting a photo of Gaga's midsection, Gabbana wrote (in both Italian and English): "I know it's strange, but finally something real not retouched! The truth, reality. Yesterday I criticised it too, but I thought about it and I was wrong!!!" Gabbana's apology was met with mixed reactions, with some applauding his apology and others condemning him for shaming Gaga in the first place.

While Lady Gaga has not responded specifically to Gabbana's apology, she did make a statement on her Instagram account regarding the Internet body-shaming. "I heard my body is a topic of conversation so I wanted to say, I'm proud of my body and you should be proud of yours too. No matter who you are or what you do," Gaga wrote in her caption. "I could give you a million reasons why you don't need to cater to anyone or anything to succeed. Be you, and be relentlessly you. That's the stuff of champions. Thank you so much everyone for supporting me. I love you guys. Xoxo, gaga."

Victoria Beckham

When Vogue Brazil shared a photo of Beckham to celebrate her 44th birthday, Gabbana commented on it with three thumbs-down emojis. As random as that comment may seem, it's another notch in Gabbana's long-running issue with Beckham as a designer. Back in 2014, when he was asked what he thinks of the singer's pivot to fashion, he told The Telegraph, “For us, she don’t make [clothes] the same way like a fashion designer. She’s a designer but...it’s different. John Galliano is a designer.... Alexander McQueen.”

Last year Beckham addressed critics like Gabbana who discredit her career as a fashion designer. "I knew people had preconceptions," she told Elle. "I was in a pop group and was married to a footballer—and no one was more aware of that than me. But nobody was mean. I was probably quite naive at first. Now I think, God, that took some balls!, but at the time I really didn't see it that way."
