Social Media 

From Wednesday 2nd, January until Wednesday 9th, January 2019

Wednesday, 2nd 


To start with I want to keep track of D&G's followers and if they change within the week. Wednesday the 2nd there at 19.1 million followers. It has just been Christmas and New year so taking that into consideration they have been posting 1-2 posts a day. Within the week they have been promoting DGwomen and a collection fitting for the festive period. 
The last post, posted 21 hours ago, has 41,521 likes and 450 comments, in what a lot of them were negative. 



As well as keeping track of D&G's social media I will also be keeping track of one of there biggest competitors Gucci. 


Gucci has 31 million followers, 11.9 million more than D&G, the brand are posting 2-3 posts a day, the last being 41 minutes ago already with 23,346 likes and 101 comments, with no negativity on the product. 


Scrolling through Gucci's Instagram, they have linked in the product to shop by just tapping onto the photo whereas D&G haven't done this. This would help the brand a lot as it will take the buyer straight to the page from Instagram instead of the having to go off the media and find it online on the brands website. It is less hassle for the buyer. 
Throughout December, beforehand and the present day Gucci has been using the hashtag, guccigift. 
Dolce & Gabbana using the hashtag, DolceGabbana the most.

Thursday 3rd

D&G have posted 2 more posts today, both hashtagging DGwomen.

Gucci have added 3 posts within the last 24hours all with the hashtag guccigift. 






Friday 4th

Dolce & Gabbana have posted another 3 posts. 2 promoting their new collection of jewellery and watches, Rainbow collection. The most recent showing their new campaign for DGwomen, DGSS19.

Gucci have posted 3 more posts, all promoting the Gucci Cruise 19 and Gucci gift.




Saturday 5th

Dolce & Gabbana have posted 2 more posts since I previously looked. One yesterday and one today, both advertising Dolce & Gabbana's Spring Summer 19 Women's campaign.

Gucci

Gucci have posted another 5 posts since I previously looked. Two on Friday promoting the GucciCruise19. The other 3 were posted today, the green bag promoting Guccigift, the dress promoting GucciCruise19 and the last one of today promoting a dress worn in Vogue Spain's latest issue, again which promotes GucciCruise19.





Sunday 6th

Dolce & Gabbana have posted 6 more posts on Sunday. These post were different people's visions of Dolce & Gabbana's new S/S19 women's advertising campaign. These people are in order of photo:

Gucci have posted 4 more photo's. First one being Vogue Paris. Second photo is Ezra Miller photographed in GucciFW18 for ggspain. Third is a photo from Harpersbazaarsg from GucciCruise19. Fourth is soitgoesmag with actress modelling GucciFW18. 






Monday 7th

Dolce & Gabbana have posted 6 more posts that I've counted from the last 24hours. Again the same peoples visions of S/S19 but for the Men's adverting campaign.

Gucci 

Gucci have posted 6 more posts. First is lofficieparis issue with Gucci in. Second was SaoirseRonan wearing custom Gucci at the Golden Globes. Third was Bradley Cooper was DIYGucci. Forth was John David Washington wearing GucciSS18. Fifth was 1/3 presenting The Alchemist Garden collection, a fragrance. Sixth 2/3 The Alchemist Garden collection photograph.  






Tuesday 8th 

Dolce & Gabbana have posted one new post. Giuseppe Tornatore's vision for the dolce & Gabbana spring Summer 2019 Women's advertising campaign.

Gucci has posted 4 more post today, all for the new fragrance, The Alchemist Garden. One which was a video and one a post of 3 photos. And one was was 3/3 of the posts on the previous day. 





Wednesday 9th

Dolce & Gabbana have posted 2 new posts. Both Giuseppe Tornatores vision of the Dolce & Gabbana Spring Summer 2019 women's advertising campaign.

Gucci have posted 3 more posts. All 3 are introducing and adverting the new limited edition book dedicated to Dapper Dan.

One week review:

After my one week review i have discovered than Gucci is a lot more productive on Instagram, because of this, this may be why they have more followings.

Dolce & Gabbana's following started at 19.1 million at the start of the week review and now at the end they have 19.2 million.

Gucci's following started at 31 million at the start of the week review and at the end they have 31.2 million. 

Gucci got the most likes on a photo of a celebrities at the golden globes wearing one of their items of clothes.

Dolce & Gabbana brand each photo at the bottom with their name in bold black against a white background. I think this is effective as when scrolling through Instagram you are more likely to see the name compared to it at the top of the post. Dolce & Gabbana have a running theme through posts, up to 6, this is good as you can see the a preview of the collection or photography their showing. 
Their most used hashtag during this week was DGCampaign.

Firstly Gucci is one step ahead of D&G with them adding the shop link when tapping the photo. I think if D&G would do this it would possibly give more sales as its easier for the customer.  Gucci page is less co-ordinated with no colour scheme and little planned posts together. One of the reasons I think Gucci gets more likes and has a higher following as the age range on Instagram is the same age range that would purchase Gucci, whereas Dolce & Gabbana isn't as popular.

Both designer brands have put no Instagram stories on for the week I have been reviewing them.
